The Ultimate Guide to Vaping Devices

Numerous vape devices are available in the market, making it understandable if you're unsure where to begin. Today, we focus on sub-ohm devices, pod vapes, open tank models, and disposable vapes.

This article is intended for newcomers to the vaping world. However, experienced vapers seeking a change or those who had a negative vaping experience in the past should also find value in reading further.

What is a Sub-Ohm Vape or DTL?

Sub-ohm vaping devices feature coils with a resistance under one ohm*, allowing more power to pass through. With minimal resistance, vapor enters your lungs directly during inhalation, known as DTL or Direct to Lung vaping.
*An ohm is a unit of measuring electrical resistance. To be sub-ohm means to have little resistance.

Sub-ohm devices generate large clouds of vapor which may not be ideal in a small space, like a car. The flavour is intensified due to increased production of vapour. These devices are high power, high wattage, and designed for seasoned vapers.

What is a Pod Vape or MTL?

A pod system is a simple way to begin vaping. It includes a battery and a removable tank or pod, much smaller than sub-ohm devices. Fill it with e-liquid, insert it into your device, press the buttons to heat the liquid, and breathe in through the mouthpiece. This type of device is often referred to as MTL or Mouth to Lung vaping, which is the same way you used to smoke a regular cigarette.

Pod devices are simple to clean, easy to refill, and available in various colours, shapes, and sizes. They offer less power than sub-ohm alternatives but are ideal for beginners.

The Main Differences

Direct to Lung vaping (DTL) generates significant vapor volume with low nicotine content, usually 3mg. Mouth to Lung vaping (MTL) yields less vapor, typically with high nicotine content e-liquids ranging from 10mg to 20mg.
